COMPREHENSIVE COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL THERAPY FOR THE TREATMENT OF SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER
 
 
GOAL:  To provide group members with specific techniques designed to help them reduce their anxiety enough so that they can enter feared situations and move forward in their life. Personal motivation, persistence, an a active ongoing SAD recovery program are essential to be able to achieve and sustain meaningful  improvement.

DATES:  Fourteen Saturdays 4-19-14 through 7-19-14.

TIME:  1:00 PM TO 4:00 PM (3 hours) From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM  Cognitive Psycho-educational and from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Behavioral Experiments.

LOCATION:  444 E. Huntington Drive, Suite 333, Arcadia, CA 91006

GROUP SIZE:   Preferred group size is 6 members-maximum 8.

COST:  $80.00 per each 3 hour, Saturday group CCBT session. In addition, as a condition of acceptance approved group members agree to purchase from SAI their own copy of Dr. Richards' audio series "Overcoming Social Anxiety: Step by Step." These audio sessions are needed for pre-group therapy assignments appoximately one week before the actual start date of this group. (I do not accept insurance for the CCBT groups.)

PRE-REQUISITE:  A Intake Evaluation @$120.00 needs to be completed prior to the start of group to confirm a SAD diagnosis, readiness for CBT group treatment and to develop a individualized hierarchy to be used in group exposures and homework.

CONTRACT:  To be considered for this group you need to be willing and able to make a commitment to participate in the full 14 weeks of treatment. (The group contract states, in part, that the regular group fee of $80.00 per group session will be charged for any group session missed.  The group contract is intended to foster a safe group climate for everyone by establishing clear group rules and to minimize the avoidant behaviors often part of the SAD symptoms--such as arriving late, leaving early or missing a group session.)

FORMAT:  A specific Cognitive-Behavioral Group Protocol along with select, social effectiveness skills training will be used in this group.
